1/4 Mile Kids Fun Race at 9:00 a.m.

Race along the Rock River in the 17th annual Waterfront 5K! Check in begins  Saturday morning at 6:30 AM, with the race beginning at 8:00 AM. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 male and female runners in the 5K race, as well as the top male and female “master” runners. Please call 815-964-4388 if you have any questions.

RACE PACKETS

All race packets can be picked up Friday, September 3, 2010 at the YMCA Log Lodge from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. On race day, packets must be picked up at the Trolley Station, located at Riverview Park, 324 North Madison St., which opens at 6:30 a.m. All packets MUST be picked up at least 15 minutes prior to the start of event.

COURSE

The USATF certified 5K (IL94056JW) course begins by the Trolley Station, 324 North Madison Street in downtown Rockford, adjacent to the On the Waterfront Festival grounds. The course heads north along Madison Street, joining up with a paved recreational running/bike path that follows along the banks of he Rock River. The 5K is an out and back race and the terrain is flat and fast. Water will be available at the aid stations located at the start/finish and along the course. Splits will be given at 1 and 2 miles.

Race Awards and Cash Prizes

Men’s and Women’s over all
First Place – $200
Second Place – $100
Third Place – $50
Masters – $50

The 5K is part of the Rockford Road Runners Race Circuit. Awards and cash prizes will be given to the top three male and female awards in the 5K Race. The top male and female runner in the Masters age group (40+ years) will receive a cash prize. Awards will also be given in each designated age division. Age divisions and number of awards are as follows:Age 0-14 = 3(female); 3 (male)
Age 15-19 = 3(female); 3 (male)
Age 20-24 = 3(female); 3 (male)
Age 25-29 = 3(female); 3 (male)
Age 30-34 = 3(female); 3 (male)
Age 35-39 = 3(female); 3 (male)
Age 40-44 = 3(female); 3 (male)
Age 45-49 = 3(female); 3 (male)
Age 50-54 = 3(female); 3 (male)
Age 55-59 = 3(female); 3 (male)
Age 60-64 = 3(female); 3 (male)
Age 65-69 = 3(female); 3 (male)
Age 70+ =     3(female); 3 (male)

RACE OFFICIALS & ORGANIZERS

The 5K race is coordinated through volunteer efforts of On the Waterfront, Inc. with cooperation from the Rockford Road Runners, a regional running club of 450+ members. The Road Runners play an integral part in the planning and production of this event, and without their commitment to the sport of running, this race would not have been possible.
