Submission guidelines-
Genre: The OTW Film Fest is open to all genres- drama, comedy, animation, documentary, etc.
Films must be in English or have English subtitles, please.
Running time: there is no minimum running time, but we prefer films to be under 40 minutes. (If you have a film longer than 40 minutes you feel would possibly qualify as a special feature, contact OTWFF Director jason ssg at filmfest@onthewaterfront.com to discuss details. Possible longer features that may be considered would at minimum be required to be produced largely in Rockford, IL or the surrounding area, or be of particular interest to the Rockford film community.)
Content: the Fest is divided into several sessions, some sessions aiming at a family friendly G to PG audience, some for more grown up tastes, but we still want to keep all screened films within the realm of a probable PG-13/TV-14 type rating- some adult language and themes are acceptable.
Format: Preferred submission format is Data DVD (Data DVD meaning original film files, not DVD’s Authored to play in a DVD player), H.264. Highest quality is obviously best. As a general rule, if your format is uploadable to YouTube, we should be able to use it, so other formats will be considered, but keep in mind if using an unusual format, earlier is better- we are not responsible for deadlines missed due to unusable formats. If you have any format questions, email filmfest@onthewaterfront.com or use the handy Feedback tab on this site to contact the event director.
Screening copies: Only one copy of each film submission is required, and multiple data files may be contained on a single data disc if desired for filmmakers submitting more than one film- However, secondary copies/back-ups are encouraged if filmmakers wish to send two copies.
***Send only final, finished products- sending a rough cut will not save you a space until your film is finished.***
